ST. ANDREW’S CHURCH

The oldest Protestant church in town since 1906, rated Grade 1 historic building in 2019. With a single bell tower decorated by colourful stained glass windows at front right, with a number of extensions: the old Vicarage in 1909, the Amah’s Quarters and the Caretakers’ Quarters in around 1910, and the Christian Centre in 1978.

TIN HAU TEMPLE

Significant in the history of Kowloon as a multi-functional place for worship, arbitration and study. The temple established by the boat people and land dwellers serves as an important religious focus and marker of collective cultural identity for the local community.

YAU MA TEI POLICE STATION

Built at the current site at Canton Road in 1922, the Yau Ma Tei Police Station is an Edwardian architecture and one of the few remaining pre-war police station buildings in Hong Kong. It was rated Grade 2 historic building in 2009.

YAU MA TEI THEATRE

The only surviving pre-World War II theatre in town built in 1930, rated as Grade 2 historic building in 2009. Featuring two pillars at the front entrance, the Chinese pitched roof, the Art Deco façade and Dutch gable walls, the steel trusses and timber purlins for roof support, and the original proscenium and interior walls of the stage.

RED BRICK BUILDING

Built in 1895, the Red Brick Building was formerly the Engineer’s Office of the old Pumping Station of the Water Supplies Department on Shanghai Street. It is the oldest surviving building of a water pumping station in the territory. It was was rated Grade 1 historic building in 2009.

YAU MA TEI
WHOLESALE FRUIT MARKET

Built in 1913 and rated Grade 2 historic building in 2009, was originally known as the Government Vegetables Market. The use of Dutch Colonial gables and pediments and the carvings of traders’ brand names on pediments or tablets of the gables are highlights of the Fruit Market.
